Emiliano Chaimité wurde 1966 in Mosambik geboren. 1986 kam er mit 18 Jahren nach Dresden. Obwohl er nach seiner Ankunft zum Gießereifacharbeiter ausgebildet wurde, ist er bereits seit vielen Jahren als Krankenpfleger tätig. In seinem Krankenhaus setzt er sich als Gewerkschafter für die Beschäftigten ein. Des Weiteren ist er auch Mitglied des Auslän­derrats Dresden e.V. und Gründer sowie Vorsitzender des Vereins Afropa e.V. zur afrika­nisch-europäischen Verständigung. Zudem setzt er sich für die Rechte von Migrantinnen und Migranten ein und wird daher an der Diskussion zu den Themen Heimat, Identität und Diaspora teilnehmen.

Emiliano Chaimité was born in 1967 in Mozambique.  In 1986, at the age of 18 years, he immigrated to Dresden. Although he was trained to be a foundry worker, he has been working as a male nurse for many years. In his hospital he exerts himself for the employees as a trade unionist. Furthermore he is a member of the advisory council on foreigners of Dresden (Ausländerrat Dresden e.V.) and founder as well as chairman of the Afropa e.V., a society for African-European communication. In addition, he works for the rights of migrants and will therefore take part in the discussion about the topics home, identity and diaspora.

Dorothee Elmiger wurde 1985 geboren. Sie lebt und arbeitet in der Schweiz und studierte am Schweizerischen Literaturinstitut in Biel sowie als Gaststudentin auch in Leipzig. Ihr Debütroman Einladung an die Waghalsigen (2010) wurde für den Schweizer Buchpreis 2010 nominiert und mit dem aspekte-Literaturpreis für das beste deutschsprachige Prosa­debüt ausgezeichnet. 2011 erhielt sie den Rauriser Literaturpreis. Ihr letztes Werk Schlafgänger erschien 2014 und lässt Einheimische sowie Migranten zum Thema Flücht­lingssituation und Grenzüberschreitungen in der Schweiz zu Wort kommen. Für ihre beiden Werke erhält sie am 11. Oktober den Erich Fried Preis 2015. Daher wird Dorothee Elmiger über das Thema Identität, Heimat und Diaspora mitdiskutieren.

Dorothee Elmiger was born in 1985. She lives and works in Switzerland and studied at the Swiss Literary Institute in Biel and also as a guest student in Leipzig. Her debut novel Einladung an die Waghalsigen (2010; Invitation to the Daredevils) was nominated for the Swiss Book Prize 2010 and was awarded with the aspekte-Literature Prize for the best German speaking debut in prose. In 2011 she received the Rauriser Literature Prize. Her last work Schlafgänger (~ Sleepwalker) was published in 2014, a symphony of voices, letting natives and migrants speak about refugees and border crossings in Switzerland. For her two works she will receive the Erich Fried Award 2015 on the 11th of October. Dorothee Elmiger will discuss the topics home, identity and diaspora.

Ludwig Fels wurde 1946 in Treuchtlingen (BRD) geboren, lebt seit 1983 in Wien. Sein erstes Werk war der Lyrikband Anläufe, der Roman Ein Unding für die Liebe folgte 1981 und hielt sich mehrere Monate auf Platz 1 der SWR-Bestenliste. Hörspiele, Theaterstücke und Hörfunkfeatures für den ORF gehören ebenfalls zu seinem Oeuvre. Zuletzt erschienen der Roman Die Parks von Palilula (2009), ein Bericht über das erste Lebensjahr des Kindes einer nigerianischen Migrantin in Wien, der Gedichtband Egal wo das Ende der Welt liegt (2010) und schließlich der Roman Die Hottentottenwerft (August 2015), in dessen Zentrum ein Soldat in der Kolonie Deutsch-Südwestafrika steht. Ludwig Fels wurde mehrfach aus­gezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem Leonce-und-Lena-Preis.  Seine letzte Auszeichnung, den Wolfram-von-Eschenbach-Preis, erhielt der Wahlösterreicher 2011. Der Roman Die Hottentottenwerft wurde von der Darmstädter Jury zum Buch des Monats September 2015 gewählt.

Ludwig Fels was born in 1946 in Treuchtlingen, Germany, but has been living in Vienna since 1983. His first book was the lyrical anthology Anläufe, which was followed by the novel Ein Unding für die Liebe and was number one of the South Western Radio for several months. He has also written plays, radio plays and radio reports for the ORF (Austrian radio). His latest works are Die Parks von Palilula (2009; The Parks of Palilula), a report about the first year of a Nigerian migrant’s child in Vienna, the lyrical anthology Egal wo das Ende der Welt liegt (2010; No Matter where the End of the World is) and finally the novel Die Hottentottenwerft (August 2015). This novel focuses on a soldier of the German colony South West Africa. Ludwig Fels was awarded several times, for example with the Leonce-and-Lena-Preis. He received his lastest award, the Wolfram-von-Eschenbach-Preis, in 2011. The novel Die Hottentottenwerft was chosen to be the best book of the month September in 2015 by the Darmstädter Jury.

Michael G. Fritz, geb. 1953 lebt als freier Schriftsteller und Publizist in Dresden und Berlin. Aus politischen Gründen wurde der gebürtige Ostberliner exmatrikuliert; 1993 folgte die Rehabilitierung und Zuerkennung des Diploms. Bekannt wurde er durch seine Romane und Erzählungen, darunter die hochgelobten Romane Die Rivalen (2007) und Tante Laura (2008), mit denen er laut der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung zum Geheimtipp unter deut­schen Erzählern avancierte. 2012 erschien Adriana lässt grüßen. Seit Ende der 1980er Jahre veröffentlicht Fritz überdies Literaturkritiken und Texte zur bildenden Kunst, für den Rundfunk und Wochenzeitungen. Sein neuestes Werk Ein bißchen wie Gott erschien im September 2015. Michael G. Fritz wird zum Thema Post-Apartheid/ Post 1989 mitdis­kutieren.

Michael G. Fritz, was born in 1953 in East Berlin and works as a freelance writer and publicist in Dresden and Berlin. He was taken off the university register for political reasons; In 1993 his rehabilitation and the recognition of his degree followed. He gained prominence through his novels and narrations, among them are the highly praised novels Die Rivalen (2007; The Rivals) and Tante Laura (2008; Aunt Laura). Both of them are the reason he became an inside tipp among German narrators, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. In 2012 his book Adriana lässt grüßen (Adriana sends her regards) was published. Since the end of the 1980s Fritz has also published book reviews and texts about the fine arts, for the radio and weekly newspapers. His latest book Ein bißchen wie Gott (A bit like God) was published on the 8th of September 2015. Michael G. Fritz will discuss the topic Post-Apartheid/ Post 1989.

Bettina Gaus wurde 1956 geboren und lebt in Berlin. Seit 30 Jahren bereist die Autorin und politische Korrespondentin der taz den afrikanischen Kontinent. Außerdem lebte sie sieben Jahre in Nairobi und berichtete als Reporterin über Ost- und Zentralafrika. Im Jahr 2000 erschien ihr erstes Buch Die scheinheilige Republik. Das Ende der demokratischen Streitkultur; 2009 wurde Bettina Gaus der Medienpreis für Sprachkultur der Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache verliehen. Ihr letztes Werk ist Der unterschätzte Kontinent. Reise zur Mittelschicht Afrikas von 2011. Für ihr Buch ist sie durch mehrere Länder Afrikas gereist, hat zahlreiche Menschen der Mittelschicht in Afrika interviewt und gibt deren Erlebnisse und Ansichten wieder. Bettina Gaus wird an der Diskussion zum Thema Rassismus und Unterdrückung teilnehmen.

Bettina Gaus was born in 1956 and lives in Berlin. For 30 years the author and political correspondent of the taz has been traveling through the African continent. She also lived seven years in Nairobi and reported about East- and Central Africa. In 2000 her first book Die scheinheilige Republik. Das Ende der demokratischen Streitkultur (The Hypocritical Republic. The End of the Democratic Culture of Arguments) was published; in 2009 Bettina Gaus was awarded the Media Prize for Language Culture of the Society for German Language. Her latest book is Der unterschätzte Kontinent. Reise zur Mittelschicht Afrikas (2011; The Underestimated Continent. Voyage to Africa’s Middle-class). For her book she travelled through several African countries, interviewed numerous middle-class people and pictures their experiences and attitudes. Bettina Gaus will take part in the discussion about racism and oppression.

Bongani Kona wurde 1985 in Zimbabwe geboren. Er ist freier Schriftsteller und einer der Herausgeber des Chimurenga Chronic, einer vierteljährlichen panafrikanischen Gazette, deren Anliegen es ist, aus einer neuen Perspektive über das gegenwärtige Afrika zu schrei­ben. Konas Texte sind unter anderem in der Sunday Times, The Mail & Guardian und Rolling Stone und weiteren Print- und Onlineveröffentlichungen erschienen. Obwohl er schon seit seinem 18. Lebensjahr in Kapstadt lebt, fällt es ihm immer noch schwer, diese Stadt als sein Zuhause zu bezeichnen. Kona wird seine autobiografischen Erfahrungen ebenso wie die Erkenntnisse aus seiner panafrikanischen journalistischen Arbeit in seine Präsentation sowie die Diskussion zu dem Themenfeld Heimat, Identität und Diaspora einbringen.

Bongani Kona was born in 1985 in Zimbabwe. He is a freelance journalist and one of the editors of Chimurenga Chronic, a quarterly pan-African gazette, which writes about contemporary Africa from a new perspective. Kona’s texts have also been published in the Sunday Times, Mail & Guardian, Rolling Stone (SA) and in other print and online publications. Although he has been living in Cape Town since he was 18 years old, he still finds it difficult to call it is home. Kona will talk about his autobiographical experiences of migration and insights of his pan-African journalistic work in his presentation as well as in the discussion on the topics home, identity and diaspora.

Marko Martin wurde 1970 in Burgstädt/Sachsen geboren. 1989 verließ er als Kriegs­dienstverweigerer die DDR und studierte an der FU Berlin Germanistik, Politikwissenschaft und Geschichte. Nach längerem Aufenthalt in Paris arbeitete er als Schriftsteller und Publi­zist in Berlin und veröffentlichte im Jahr 2000 seinen ersten Roman Ein Fenster zur Welt. Später folgten die Erzählbände Schlafende Hunde (2009) und Die Nacht von San Salvador (2013). Zahlreiche seiner Essays, Reise-Reportagen und Literaturkritiken erschienen vor allem in der Welt, der Neuen Zürcher Zeitung und der Zeitschrift mare. Letztes Jahr brachte er die Essaysammlung Treffpunkt ‘89 sowie 2015 das literarische Tagebuch Madiba Days heraus. Marko Martin wird bei der Gesprächsrunde über Post-Apartheid/Post ‘89 mitdis­kutieren.

Marko Martin was born in 1970 in Burgstädt/Saxony. In 1989 he left the GDR as a conscientious objector and studied German Studies, Politics and History at the FU Berlin. After a longer stay in Paris he worked as a freelance writer and publicist in Berlin and published his first novel Ein Fenster zur Welt (Window to the World) in 2000. Later the narrative anthologies Schlafende Hunde (2009; Sleeping dogs) und Die Nacht von San Salvador (2013; The Night of San Salvador) followed. Numerous essays, travel reports and book reviews of Martin have been published in the Welt, the Neuen Zürcher Zeitung and the magazine mare. Last year he published the essay anthology Treffpunkt ‘89 (Meeting point ’89) as well as the literary diary Madiba Days in 2015. Marko Martin will discuss about Post-Apartheid/Post ’89.

Niq Mhlongo wurde 1973 in Soweto, Südafrika geboren. Er studierte Afrikanische Literatur und Politikwissenschaft an der University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg und ist heute als Journalist und Schriftsteller tätig. Sein Debütroman Dog Eat Dog wurde 2004 in Kwela veröffentlicht und bald darauf ins Spanische übersetzt. Unter dem Titel Perro Come Perro gewann die spanische Ausgabe den Mar de Letras Preis. Mit Way Back Home erschien im August 2015 sein erster Roman auf Deutsch. Das im Ausland bereits gefeierte Werk handelt von einem Exilrückkehrer, der gegen die Apartheid kämpfte. Mhlongo hat überdies ein Drehbuch für die animierte Kinderfernsehserie Magic Cellar geschrieben sowie Skripte für ein Comicmagazin namens Mshana. Niq Mhlongo wird zum Thema Post- Apartheid/Post ´89 mitdiskutieren.

Ruairí O’Brien, geboren in Dublin, lebt seit 1991 in Deutschland. Er studierte Architektur und Licht in London, Edinburgh und New York, arbeitete für mehrere renommierte Büros in Europa und USA und unterrichtete an verschiedenen Universitäten im In- und Ausland. Seit 1995 betreibt er sein eigenes Architekturbüro, Ruairí O’Brien. Architektur. Licht. Raumkunst., in Dresden sowie archevolucio Ltd. in London. Er ist der Erfinder des Erich Kästner Museums und Vereinsvorsitzender. Sein ressourcen-sparendes Konzept des micromuseum® ist ein Meilenstein in der zeitgenössischen Kultur­branche. Mit seiner „Mobile School of Lighting Design“ ist O’Brien Collaborating Partner des Unesco International Year of Light. O’Briens künstlerische Arbeit beinhaltet auch Zeichnungen, die im Auftrag der OECD zu den Themen Ressourcenschwund, Umweltpolitik, Städtebau und globale Gerechtigkeit publiziert wurden. Diskutieren wird er über Vernetzung und Welt­offenheit durch Kunst.

Ruairí O’Brien was born in Dublin and has been living in Germany since 1991. He studied Architecture and Light in London, Edinburgh and New York, worked for severeal renowned offices in Europe and the USA and taught at different German and foreign universities. Since 1995 he has his own architectural office, Ruairí O’Brien. Architektur. Licht. Raumkunst., in Dresden as well as archevolucio Ltd. in London. He is inventor and chairman of the Erich Kästner Museum. His concept of the micromuseum® is a milestone in contemporary culture. With his „Mobile School of Lighting Design“ O’Brien is Collaborating Partner of the Unesco International Year of Light. O’Brien’s artistic work includes drawings, which have been published on behalf of the OECD about the topics resource decline, sustainability, urban development and global justice. He will discuss about networking and cultural openness through art.

Nadja Ofuatey-Alazard geboren im Schwarzwald, absolvierte ihre Ausbildung zur Diplom­journalistin an der Deutschen Journalistenschule München. Sie lebte einige Jahre in New York, wo sie Film studierte und in der US-amerikanischen Film- und Video-Produktion arbeitete. Mittlerweile promoviert sie an der Universität Bayreuth, lebt und arbeitet unter anderem als Filmemacherin, Produktionsleiterin, Autorin und Herausgeberin im Kultur­bereich in München. 2011 gab sie gemeinsam mit Susan Arndt das kritische Nachschlage­werk Wie Rassismus aus Wörtern spricht heraus. Seit 2011 co-leitet sie das BIGSAS Festival Afrikanisch/-diasporischer Literaturen an der Uni Bayreuth und 2014 mitveröffent­lichte sie den Sammelband AfroFictional In(ter)ventions. Nadja Ofuatey-Alazard wird an der Diskussion zu Rassismus und Unterdrückung teilnehmen.

Nadja Ofuatey-Alazard, born in the Black Forrest, holds a masters degree in journalism of the German School for Journalists in Munich. She had been living in New York for several years, where she studied film and worked for the US-American film and video production. At the moment she is doing her doctorate at the University of Bayreuth, lives and works as a film-maker, production manager, author and editor in the field of culture in Munich. In 2011 she co-edited together with Susan Arndt the critical reference book Wie Rassismus aus Wörtern spricht (How racism speaks through words). Since 2011 she is has been co-directing the BIGSAS Festival Afrikanisch/-diasporischer Literaturen at the University of Bayreuth and in 2014 she co-published the anthology AfroFictional In(ter)ventions. Nadja Ofuatey-Alazard will take part in the discussion about racism and oppression.

Emeka Okereke wurde 1980 in Nigeria geboren. Er ist Mitglied des Depth of Field (DOF) Kollektivs, einer Gruppe von sechs nigerianischen Fotografen. Der Absolvent der National Fine Art School of Paris nutzt nicht nur die Fotografie sondern auch Lyrik und Videos um sich mit Fragen der interkulturellen Koexistenz,  von Andersartigkeit und Selbstfindung zu beschäftigen. Er stellte bereits auf der Biennale 2012 in Benin sowie weiteren Kunstfestivals verschiedener Städte weltweit aus. Er ist Gründer und künstlerischer Leiter von „Invisible Borders: The Trans-African Project“, das derzeit auf der Biennale 2015 in Venedig ausgestellt wird, und gewann 2003 den „Best Young Photographer“-Preis der AFAA „Afrique en Création“. Emeka Okereke präsentiert seine Arbeit in Text und Ton und nimmt an den Diskussionen zu Rassismus und Unterdrückung sowie Vernetzung und Weltoffenheit durch Kunst teil.

Emeka Okereke was born in 1980 in Nigeria. He is a member of the Depth of Field (DOF) collective, a group of six Nigerian photographers. The graduate of the National Fine Art School of Paris does not only use photography but poetry and videos as well as performative interventions. His works deal with the questions of exchange and co-existence in the context of various social-cultural confluences. He already exhibited at the Biennale 2012 and art festivals in different cities all over the world. He is founder and artistic director of „Invisible Borders: The Trans-African Project“, which is exhibited at the Biennale 2015 in Venice and won the Photographer Award from the AFAA “Afrique en Création” in 2003. Emeka Okereke will present his work and participate in the discussions about racism and oppression as well as networking and cultural openness through art.

Lola Shoneyin wurde 1974 in Ibadan geboren. Ihre Arbeit beinhaltet drei Gedichtbände: So All the Time I Was Sitting on an Egg (1997), Song of a Riverbird (2002), For the love of Flight (2010) und ein Kinderbuch Mayowa and the Masquerades (2010). Ihr erster Roman Die geheimen Leben der Frauen des Baba Segi (erschienen 2010) war für den Orange Prize for Fiction 2011 nominiert und gewann den PEN Oakland 2011 Josephine Miles Literary Award. Nachdem sie in Nigeria sowie im Ausland für mehrere Jahre unterrichtet hat, lebt Shoneyin nun in Lagos und organisiert das Ake Arts and Book Festival. Her debut novel, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives (2010), was nominated for the 2011 Orange Prize for Fiction and won the PEN Oakland 2011 Josephine Miles Literary Award. After teaching both in Nigeria and abroad for many years, Shoneyin currently lives in Lagos, Nigeria and organises the annual Ake Arts and Book Festival. Lola Shoneyin will participate in the discussion about networking and cultural openness through art.

Indra Wussow wurde in Herford geboren. Sie studierte Vergleichende Literaturwissen­schaft und arbeitet heute als Autorin, literarische Übersetzerin und Kuratorin für verschie­dene internationale Einrichtungen. 2002 gründete sie auf Sylt die von ihr geleitete Sylt Foundation, mit der zeitgenössische Künstler_innen und Schriftsteller_innen unterschied­licher Nationen gefördert werden. Ihrer Arbeit für den Dialog zwi­schen Wissenschaft und Kunst widmet sie große Aufmerksamkeit. Seit neuestem beinhaltet die Sylt Foundation nicht nur die Stiftungsorte Sylt und Johannesburg, sondern auch Phnom Penh. Außerdem ist Wussow Herausgeberin der Reihe AfrikAWunderhorn für zeitgenössische afrikanische Literatur im Wunderhorn Verlag unter der auch Way Back Home (2015) erschien. Sie lebt heute in Johannesburg/Südafrika und auf Sylt. Indra Wussow wird an der Diskussion zum Thema Vernetzung und Weltoffenheit durch Kultur teilnehmen.

Indra Wussow, was born in Herford. She studied Literature studies and works now as an author, literary translator and curator for different international institutions. In 2002 she founded and also runs the Sylt Foundation, which sponsors contemporary artists and authors of different nations. She is very dedicated to the communication between science and arts. Recently the Sylt Foundation has opened its third dependence in Phnom Penh, adding to the dependences in Sylt and Johannesburg. Indra Wussow is also the publisher of the series AfrikAWunderhorn for contemporary African literature at the Wunderhorn Verlag. Several books have been published in that series, among them Way Back Home (2015), Beneath the Lion’s Gaze (2011) and Strife (2006). She now lives in Johannesburg and on Sylt. Indra Wussow will participate in the discussion about networking and cultural openness through art.
